OpenOffice is released under version 3 of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPLv3). 3.2.1 is available to download from the project's site and mirrors. More details about the release can be found in the release announcement and release notes. According Florian Effenberger, the Marketing Project Leader, further details on the security fixes will be announced "in a few days".

However, the Security Team Bulletin, has yet to be updated with details of the vulnerabilities. The developers say that the update includes fixes for several security issues and advise all users to upgrade to the latest release as soon as possible. Following Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems more than a year ago, the update also replaces the old Sun Logos with those from Oracle, which is now the project's main sponsor.

According to the developers, the new logo is part of a brand refresh for the office suite that continues a "tradition of quality and remains faithful to its origins". The latest update includes some graphical user interface (GUI) changes, including an updated splash screen and a new version of the logo. The maintenance update addresses a number of bugs and security issues found in the previous 3.2 release, but adds no new features. The development team have issued the first point update to the 3.2.x branch of their open source office suite for Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Solaris.
